Dear Friends of Torah Academy,

As the only Jewish Day School in Louisiana offering grades pre- kindergarten through eighth, Torah Academy has been educating children for over fifteen years. Our graduates matriculate into local private and public high schools and out–of– state religious schools. We pride ourselves on the individualized general and Judaic curricula created to ensure the future academic success of our students. The traditional Judaic classes are taught at many levels and are designed to educate and inspire children in all areas of their heritage.

Why the need for a benefit:

After the destruction of Hurricane Katrina, Torah Academy was found flooded and in poor condition. To our dismay, we also found that the “Greater New Orleans” area had lost a significant number of its Jewish population to neighboring states, leaving a citywide void in the local Jewish schools and synagogues.

Despite a change in our student body, Torah Academy remains operational and determined to continue to thrive. The school mission of “excellence in education” maintains that every unique child in New Orleans has an option for a comprehensive general and Judaic education.
