Why the need for a benefit:
After the destruction of Hurricane Katrina, Torah Academy was found flooded and in poor condition. To our dismay, we also found that the “Greater New Orleans” area had lost a significant number of its Jewish population to neighboring states, leaving a citywide void in the local Jewish schools and synagogues.
Despite a change in our student body, Torah Academy remains operational and determined to continue to thrive. The school mission of “excellence in education” maintains that every unique child in New Orleans has an option for a comprehensive general and Judaic education. |
